Jackson mayor defends safety of city’s water in front of federal judge
SUMMARY: Jackson Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba provided free water filters to residents, in an attempt to restore their confidence in the city's water quality. The filters were donated by United Healthcare for expecting mothers and caregivers with children five years old or younger. Lumumba reassured the city's residents that the water is safe, according to Safe Drinking Water Act standards. The free filters last for four months and cost $50 to replace.

Months after fans called for Lemonis’ job, Mississippi State baseball back in postseason

Gov. Reeves declares Emergency Medical Services Week in Mississippi
SUMMARY: Governor Tate Reeves has proclaimed May 19-25 as Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week in Mississippi. Residents are encouraged to express gratitude towards EMS workers, including technicians, paramedics, dispatchers, nurses, physicians, firefighters, and police officers. The Mississippi State Department of Health highlighted the continuous readiness of EMS teams to provide lifesaving care, which significantly improves survival and recovery rates. This year marks the 50th National EMS Week, celebrated nationwide. In Mississippi, the public is invited to honor EMS personnel at the Mississippi Trade Mart in Jackson on May 21 with a special event featuring various exhibits and demonstrations.
