6/1 – The Chief’s “Potential Tropical Cyclone” In The Gulf of Mexico

SUMMARY: Showers and thunderstorms associated with an area of low pressure over the northeastern Gulf of Mexico have increased and become better organized during the overnight hours. Environmental conditions appear marginally favorable for additional development over the next day or so, and a short-lived tropical depression or storm could form over that time span as the system meanders over the northeastern Gulf of Mexico. However, by this weekend, environmental conditions are forecast to become unfavorable for additional development as the system drifts southward, likely remaining offshore over the Gulf of Mexico.

Family files lawsuit after teen’s suicide in Harrison County Jail

SUMMARY: The family of 16-year-old Kayelyn Gwen Drake, who committed suicide at the Harrison County Adult Detention Center, is suing the Harrison County Sheriff's Office and jail medical center for personal injuries and wrongful death. Kayelyn's family believes she was wrongfully accused of armed robbery and would still be alive if not for the actions of the Sheriff's Department. They describe Kayelyn as a good student who enjoyed singing and photography, and claim that she was falsely implicated in the crime due to being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
