Reeves denounces questions about campaign funding from welfare scandal figures
SUMMARY: Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves reiterated that his campaign will donate contributions from those implicated in a welfare scandal to charity. He admitted in February 2020 that his campaign received funds from those arrested in connection to the scandal, including Nancy and Zach New. The funds will be put in a separate bank account and donated to charity at the conclusion of ongoing litigation and criminal investigations. The New family donated a total of $8,500 to the Reeves campaign between 2017 and 2019.

Jackson man sentenced for killing 3 family members, including pregnant sister
SUMMARY: Maurice Forte, a 29-year-old man from Jackson, Mississippi, has been sentenced to life in prison for the murders of his grandmother, mother, and pregnant sister in 2018. Forte was convicted on four counts of capital murder after fatally shooting the three women multiple times in their home. The victims were Forte's grandmother, mother, and sister who was seven-months pregnant. Hinds County District Attorney Jody Owens stated that Forte showed “senseless violence” by shooting his grandmother eighteen times, his mother nine times, and his pregnant sister twice. Forte will serve life in prison without the possibility of parole for his actions.

Suspect in Mississippi attempted murder believed to be in Texas
SUMMARY: Texas and Mississippi Crime Stoppers are seeking help to identify a suspect in connection with an attempted murder in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. The suspect is described as a large man wearing a black and red jacket, gray pants, and tan/brown boots. He fled the scene in a white Honda Accord with tinted windows. A reward is being offered for information leading to the suspect's identification. Brazos County Crime Stoppers will assist with coordinating any reward for information in their area.

Bond revoked for Mississippi woman accused of unnatural intercourse with dog
SUMMARY: Denise Frazier, a Purvis woman, had her bond revoked for charges of unnatural intercourse with a dog in Jones County. She was initially held in Forrest County Jail and was indicted by a grand jury in May 2014. Frazier violated her bond conditions from a prior arrest in April 2013 for unnatural intercourse and cruelty towards an animal. A judge had ordered her to have no contact with animals during the case, but she violated this order in a video. Frazier is currently being held in Jones County for these offenses.
