Legislation outlawing ‘squatted’ vehicles in Mississippi signed into law
SUMMARY: Mississippi is set to implement new traffic regulations banning “squatted vehicles”—cars with front bumpers significantly higher than rear fenders—after Governor Tate Reeves signed House Bill 349. The law, which goes into effect on July 1, 2023, will first involve warnings, followed by fines ranging from $100 to $300 and potential license suspension for repeat offenders. The legislation, propelled by safety concerns, will direct collected fines to support driver's education programs in secondary schools. Mississippi joins other states like North Carolina in prohibiting these vehicle modifications.
