Southern Miss caps off sweep of Arkansas State with 17-7 mercy rule win
Southern Miss was hitting the ball on all cylinders this weekend, capping off a sweep over Sun Belt opponent Arkansas State with a 17-7 mercy rule victory Sunday afternoon.
Southern Miss (28-15 overall, 14-7 SBC), who has now won six consecutive games, registered a season-high five home runs to go along with a season-best run total to close out the series.
Gulfport native Blake Johnson homered twice – the fourth time a Golden Eagle has had a multi-home run game this season – while Reece Ewing, Carson Paetow, and Matthew Etzel each went deep as Southern Miss tied a season-high for hits…
