Starkville businesses see less customers during summer breaks
SUMMARY: Mississippi State's spring semester has ended, with seniors graduating and many students moving home for the summer. This seasonal migration causes a dip in local businesses' foot traffic. Brikley Spencer from Maroon and Co. noted that they offer promotions to attract customers. Bart Wood of Little Dooey mentioned that while there's a slowdown, recent developments like Cornerstone Park tournaments and MSU camps keep Starkville active. Both businesses largely employ college students, but the summer schedule balances staffing needs. Despite past challenges, Wood says conditions have improved, and they adapt annually, considering even shortening hours during slower periods.
