North Mississippi Startup WISPR Making Headlines
This past week, Magnolia Report's Frank Corder offered WISPR some great coverage, detailing the success of the drone-building startup as it expanded into various markets and commercial applications.
CEO Connor Ferguson and COO Austin Ratcliffe launched WISPR in 2017 with help from the Mississippi State University Center for Entrepreneurship and Outreach. Their goal was to build and deploy small unmanned aircraft systems, or sUAS, in industries such as telecommunications.

Boat manufacturer creating 56 jobs Project represents a corporate investment at least $8 million
Jackson, Miss. (May 17, 2023) – Boat manufacturer Connor Industries is locating operations in Clarksdale. The project represents a corporate investment of at least $8 million and will create 56 jobs.
Connor Industries' new location will enable the company to manufacture and test boats year-round on the Mississippi River. The project involves the construction of a new 48,600-square-foot facility to house Connor Industries' new Clarksdale operations, as well as public infrastructure improvements in north Coahoma County, including the construction of a new road over the Mississippi River levee and a river dock landing.
