Shloop to build a footwear manufacturing facility in Meridian
Company to create 56 jobsProject represents corporate investment of approximately $9 million
Jackson, Miss. (January 10, 2023) –Shloop, a startup footwear manufacturer, is opening a sustainable manufacturing facility in Meridian. The project is a $9 million investment and will create 56 jobs.
The footwear factory will be housed in a circa 1930's bakery building comprising 30,000 square feet of space in downtown Meridian and will manufacture footwear in a more sustainable manner using renewable energy, recycled materials, advanced molding and shoe recycling technologies.
The Mississippi Development Authority is providing assistance with building renovations and upgrades. The city of Meridian and Lauderdale County also will provide assistance.

Owl’s Head Alloys locating aluminum processing operations in West Point
Company to create 68 jobs Project is a corporate investment of more than $29 million
Jackson, Miss. (March 21, 2023) – Aluminum processing company Owl's Head Alloys is locating operations in Clay County. The project is a $29.245 million investment and will create 68 new jobs.
Headquartered in Bowling Green, Kentucky, Owl's Head Alloys is a secondary aluminum processor that melts down and recycles aluminum products and by-products to be reused in manufacturing processes. The company will supply recycled aluminum to Aluminum Dynamics.
The Mississippi Development Authority is providing assistance for building improvements. The City of West Point and Clay County are providing local tax abatement assistance.
