A show-stopping performance finally got some recognition it richly deserves.

This past weekend, Ocean Springs Theatre and Film Department attended the Mississippi Theatre Association Competition in Tupelo, where they were named the state champions for their production of “Bocon!”

“Bocon” is Spanish for ‘big mouth' and it tells the story of the main character finding his freedom and his voice by reaching the border.

Along with winning best production, Ocean Springs senior Xavier Reichbaum was awarded best male actor at MTA. He shares what this life changing…

USM Army and Air Force ROTC programs host Commissioning Ceremonies

SUMMARY: Ten Army and three Air Force cadets from the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) ROTC were commissioned as Second Lieutenants. The Army ceremony at Camp Shelby featured Major General Janson D. Boyles, while the Air Force ceremony on campus featured Brigadier General Mary-Kathryn Haddad. LTC Juan J. Ortiz praised the Army cadets for their leadership, and Lt. Col. Sheena Puleali'i commended the Air Force cadets for their commitment. Distinguished Military Graduate 2LT Jeremiah J. Parker expressed pride in his training and future goals. Commissioned cadets include 2LT Miruna Avram, 2LT Braxton Bailey, 2LT Jada Fairley, among others.
