You may remember News 25 featuring this week's Student Athlete of the Week, Julie Segroves, when she was in eighth grade, but she continues to raise the bar for female pole vaulters all across the nation.

SUMMARY: The Pearl River Community College rodeo team had a successful weekend at Northwest, with the men's team finishing sixth and the women's team finishing second. The women's team also secured the Ozark Region Reserve Champion title, earning them a spot in the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper. Kate Eiland was named the All-Around Champion and tied for first in breakaway roping. Erin McLaughlin, Juliana Jennings, and others also performed well in breakaway roping. Kate Eiland and Bryson Crawford advanced to the championship round in team roping. Overall, the team had a strong showing and is looking forward to the upcoming finals.

SUMMARY: The University of Southern Mississippi is launching the Roy Howard Community Journalism Center in fall 2024 to train journalists in providing important, fact-based reporting for under-reported communities in the state and combatting disinformation. It will also establish partnerships and bureaus in different locations to create professional-level local content and build trust with the community.
