SUMMARY: The weather forecast predicts a break in humidity, with clear and slightly hotter skies on Thursday. The sea breeze will increase the humidity later in the day. Heat and oppressive humidity are expected to return on Friday and continue over the weekend, with heat index values around 110 degrees. Chances of rain and stray thunderstorms will gradually return from Saturday. Sunday carries a possibility of isolated thunderstorms . A weather disturbance in the Gulf of Mexico early next week could potentially bring more rain on Monday and Tuesday. The National Hurricane Center currently assigns it a 20% chance of tropical development.

USM Army and Air Force ROTC programs host Commissioning Ceremonies
SUMMARY: Ten Army and three Air Force cadets from the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) ROTC were commissioned as Second Lieutenants. The Army ceremony at Camp Shelby featured Major General Janson D. Boyles, while the Air Force ceremony on campus featured Brigadier General Mary-Kathryn Haddad. LTC Juan J. Ortiz praised the Army cadets for their leadership, and Lt. Col. Sheena Puleali'i commended the Air Force cadets for their commitment. Distinguished Military Graduate 2LT Jeremiah J. Parker expressed pride in his training and future goals. Commissioned cadets include 2LT Miruna Avram, 2LT Braxton Bailey, 2LT Jada Fairley, among others.
