64-year-old man killed in crash in Lowndes County
SUMMARY: The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash in L County. According to County Coroner Greg Merchant, 64-year-old Dale Shepard of Calonia was killed in a two-car collision on Highway 12 East around 3 PM. Shepard was driving his Chevy truck westward when another truck from St. ERS Mill Road turned onto the highway, causing Shepard’s truck to overturn. Sadly, Shepard was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
A Caledonia man was killed in a two-car crash in Lowndes County on Tuesday.

New technology unveiled at Jackson-Evers Airport

Winner declared in Ward 2 special election for Jackson City Council
SUMMARY: Tina Clay has won the special runoff election for Jackson’s Ward Two City Council seat, securing 1,509 votes against opponent Marcus Cheatham’s 920 votes. Celebrating her victory, Clay expressed excitement and gratitude to her supporters, emphasizing the positive experience of canvassing throughout the ward. While acknowledging that challenges lie ahead, she sees her upcoming role as an opportunity to learn, collaborate, and improve the city and council leadership. Clay will be officially sworn in once the votes, including 59 absentee and 2 affidavit ballots, are certified. The election process spanned 22 days, culminating in today‘s results.
