SUMMARY: In response to Hurricane Helen’s devastation on the East Coast, two Gulfport residents, Bogas and Wilson, drove 600 miles to help the affected communities in Western North Carolina. Initially intending to power wash community centers, they quickly realized urgent supply needs. Drawing from their experience with Hurricane Katrina, they began raising funds and delivering generators before loading a trailer with essential items. They established a communication system to connect communities, ensuring timely donations of needed supplies. After their return, they created a website and Amazon wish list for ongoing support, planning to return for further relief efforts.

After seeing the aftermath videos of Hurricane Helene, two Gulf Coast residents set out 600 miles northeast, where their mission changed in an instant.

Mississippi shrimp season to open soon

Published

www.youtube.com – WLOX News – 2025-06-13 12:24:41

SUMMARY: The Mississippi shrimp season is set to open soon, though the exact date could be postponed depending on sampling results. The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources (MDMR) requires that anyone transporting shrimp from Mississippi waters be licensed before entering the water. MDMR will continue sampling prior to the season opening to monitor shrimp movement. If sampling indicates a large movement of juvenile brown shrimp into the area, the season start may be delayed. Rain chances are expected this weekend, but shrimp transport regulations and monitoring remain in effect to ensure a responsible harvest.

Shrimpers will be able to drop their nets in state territorial waters at 6 a.m. on Monday, June 23.
