$14.5 million allocated for 33 outdoor stewardship projects
SUMMARY: The Mississippi Outdoor Stewardship Trust Fund Board of Trustees has allocated $14.5 million for 33 conservation and outdoor recreation projects. Announced by Governor Tate Reeves, the funding will be bolstered by an additional $30 million from other sources. Focused on enhancing state parks, outdoor trails, public water and land access, and preserving wildlife and habitats, this round follows an initial $9.8 million for 21 projects. The funds are part of a $15 million deposit approved by the legislature for the 2023 session. Ed Penny from the Mississippi Outdoor Stewardship Coalition commended the increasing momentum of the initiative, with a full list of the projects available online.

Gov. Reeves declares Emergency Medical Services Week in Mississippi
SUMMARY: Governor Tate Reeves has proclaimed May 19-25 as Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week in Mississippi. Residents are encouraged to express gratitude towards EMS workers, including technicians, paramedics, dispatchers, nurses, physicians, firefighters, and police officers. The Mississippi State Department of Health highlighted the continuous readiness of EMS teams to provide lifesaving care, which significantly improves survival and recovery rates. This year marks the 50th National EMS Week, celebrated nationwide. In Mississippi, the public is invited to honor EMS personnel at the Mississippi Trade Mart in Jackson on May 21 with a special event featuring various exhibits and demonstrations.
