Woman sold pills to mother whose baby died with drugs in system, Gulfport Police say
SUMMARY: Tomorrow morning, the temperature will be in the mid-thirties. There might not be enough time to prepare for the cold on Saturday morning. However, there is no need to worry about a new freeze as it has already passed. Disturbing new details have emerged after a mother was charged with felony child abuse for supplying drugs during her pregnancy. Reynolds of St. Louis was charged with felony child abuse two weeks after her son was born. Court documents show that the child had several drugs in his system and later died a week after his birth. Police are now charging Don White, as social media messages showed that he agreed to sell Reynolds fentanyl while she was pregnant.

A second woman was arrested in connection to a baby who died with drugs in its system.

Mississippi Department of Transportation holds conference to provide updates on road projects
SUMMARY: The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) held a maintenance conference with over 200 employees, where Executive Director Brad White shared updates on road projects. Nearly every highway in South Mississippi is undergoing construction to improve or repair infrastructure. Major projects include widening I-10 in Harrison County to improve traffic flow, expected to be completed by 2027. The emergency bridge and road program, funded with $100 million but facing $900 million in applications, supports local bridge improvements. White emphasized the need for a state budget agreement to continue projects, assuring taxpayers that 97% of the budget directly funds road improvements.

Over 200 MDOT maintenance employees across the state had a chance to hear some updated information at an annual maintenance conference.

Pascagoula diners help serve up parks, fields, fun
SUMMARY: Pascagoula is funding its parks and recreation through a 2% tax on restaurant meals and drinks. Since 2013, this tax has generated about $1 million annually, supporting everything from playgrounds to a $10 million sports complex. The complex hosts weekend tournaments, boosting the local economy. Many residents were unaware of the tax’s impact but now see its value, funding not only new equipment but also park maintenance. For families, these parks offer more than just play areas; they create lasting memories, with many residents praising the tax as a worthy investment for the community’s future.
