Investigation finds MDEQ did not racially discriminate against Jackson in funding water systems

SUMMARY: The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) has been cleared of allegations of racial discrimination in its of system improvements for by the EPA. The probe began after the NAACP filed a complaint. MDEQ claimed to have approved loans for Jackson at higher rates than other , allocating over $86 million since a 2012 consent decree with the EPA. MDEQ and a former employee highlighted significant loan proportions for Jackson's wastewater projects. The EPA did find procedural deficiencies in MDEQ's processes, but MDEQ argues it complies with federal laws. The NAACP still alleges discrimination against Jackson.

Corinth doctor arrested for fatal high-speed car crash
