SUMMARY: Two ongoing homicide investigations in Monroe County, Mississippi have resulted in the deaths of two individuals. Leviathan Oneal Troope, 29, of Aberdeen, was shot on Tuesday night and was found lying in the street behind his car. The second case involves the death of Geraldine Demathieu, 87, who was found inside her home. The incidents are being investigated by Aberdeen police and the Monroe County Sheriff's Department, respectively. Preliminary evidence suggests that a person walking down the street may have shot Troope, and another family member found Demathieu's body and called 911. An autopsy is planned for Troope, and the other family member was taken to the hospital for their injury.
