SUMMARY: In this update, the chief meteorologist discusses the current tropical conditions. Tropical Storm Dawn is weak and located about a thousand miles west of the Azores. It will remain out at sea, not impacting anyone, and will eventually fizzle out by the end of the weekend. Another tropical wave between Africa and the Leeward Islands has a 30% chance of developing in the next five to seven days. However, models show it weakening as it moves west into the Caribbean due to dry air and Saharan dust. While the Saharan dust may cause hazy skies, development is not expected to be significant at this time.

A high-pressure system will move in by Thursday, bringing well-above-average temperatures. Heat indices may reach 107–110 degrees by Friday, especially west of I-55 in Mississippi. The week ahead will remain hot and humid, with increasingly oppressive heat expected through the weekend. Stay weather-aware and hydrated amid the steamy conditions.
