Trio locked up for rental assistance fraud in Mississippi
SUMMARY: Three individuals, Christy Gomez, Larry Hodge, and Michael Norman, have been arrested for their alleged roles in a fraudulent scheme in Mississippi that targeted the Rental Assistance for Mississippians Program (RAMP). This organized fraud was operational from January 1, 2020, to December 31, 2022. State Auditor Shad White's team unveiled the conspiracy, leading to the arrests. Gomez, who potentially faces 80 years in prison and $100,000 in fines, was served a demand letter for $108,851.33. Hodge and Norman, each facing up to 20 years and $25,000 in fines, received a demand letter for $26,565.70 upon Hodge's arrest.
