Three local players named Mr. Basketball
SUMMARY: Three players from the metro area earned the Mr. Basketball award from the MHSAA. Raymond Ford, Eric Payment, and Trey Alexander were recognized for their outstanding performance in the first round of their conference tournament. Raymond Ford is a top prospect in the country, averaging 28 points per game for the Rangers. Jamarion Fleming is a force on both sides of the ball for the Tigers, and Trey Alexander is a key player for the Arrows. All three players have contributed significantly to their teams' success and were deserving of the high honor.

Part of Monroe County road expected to remain closed for 15 months
SUMMARY: Monroe County residents will experience changes in their daily commute due to a major road closure on B Hatchi Road. The closure is necessary for bridge reconstruction over the Buddah Hatchee River, affecting travel along B Hatchi from Wolf Road to Burks Road. Residents are concerned about the impact on their community, as detours will be required for access to certain areas. People driving from Alabama to Monroe County will also face challenges with the closure. The road manager estimates the closure will last for about 15 months, causing inconvenience for many residents and travelers in the area.
Work is underway to rebuild a bridge over the Buttahatchee River in Monroe County.
