SUMMARY: The abandoned Sam's Club warehouse in South Jackson has been transformed into a multi-use sports facility called The Ark. State Representative Ronnie Crudup Jr. and his team opened the facility to the public, addressing the lack of community spaces in the area. Crudup had envisioned repurposing the building for the community twenty years ago when he and a friend were praying in the parking lot and were allowed to stay by the police. Phase one of the project has created three basketball courts and a weightlifting area, with plans for further development in the future.

A Jackson Police officer stopped a speeding vehicle on Old Canton Road, where the driver explained he was rushing to a friend's accident. The officer followed the driver to the crash site and found a vehicle that had collided with a tree. The occupant's body was pinned and severely burned. The driver succumbed to their injuries, according to the Hinds County Coroner.
