Temporary lane closures will affect I-55, I-20 in Jackson
SUMMARY: Starting tonight at 10 p.m., the inside lane of I-55 North from McDowell Road to the Pearl River in Hinds County will be closed for concrete repair. The closure is expected to last until Saturday after 2 p.m. One lane of traffic will remain open, but drivers should prepare for delays, especially during heavy traffic.

Two Jones County homes damaged in early morning fires
SUMMARY: Firefighters in Jones County responded to two house fires today. The first fire occurred at a mobile home on Mason at Lake Road early in the morning, which was unoccupied and undergoing renovation. The home sustained catastrophic damage, but no injuries were reported. The second fire took place at a brick home on South Front Street in Sandersville, also unoccupied, with heavy flames on the backside. The firefighters were able to save much of the outside, but the inside suffered significant damage. The second fire was deemed suspicious, prompting an investigation by the Jones County Sheriff's Office.

Ridgeland officer involved shooting
SUMMARY: State authorities are investigating an officer-involved shooting in Ridgeland after a domestic dispute. 28-year-old Keithannia Cortez Starks was arrested for shooting at officers. Police responded to a dispute near Williams Boulevard where Starks fired at officers and was shot in the chest in return. Starks was taken to the hospital, and the extent of injuries is unknown. Authorities struggled to take Starks into custody, as shown in the video. The morning was dry, but the situation escalated into a violent confrontation. The investigation is ongoing to determine the events leading up to the shooting.

“Forget Me Not” event held for Bereaved Mother’s Day in Tupelo
