Smokin’ the River City festival wraps up in Moss Point
SUMMARY: The Smokin' the River City event, featuring drag boat racers from as far south as the Florida Keys and as far west as Texas, returned to the Escatawpa River for its second year. Fifty-three boaters were divided into seven classes, with spectators enjoying live music and vendors in Downtown Moss Point. The races were sponsored by the Outboard Drag Racing Association.

Last living suspect in 1996 drive-by shooting of Tupac Shakur indicted on murder charge
SUMMARY: Davis, a self-proclaimed gangster, has been arrested and indicted for the 1996 murder of rapper Tupac Shakur. The grand jury added a gang activity enhancement to the charge, which could result in an extra 20 years if convicted. In his memoir, Davis claimed he was in the car from which the fatal shots were fired. Davis is said to have planned the attack as revenge, following a brawl between Shakur and his nephew, a known rival. Shakur's murder has remained unsolved for 27 years, with this marking the first arrest.

Judge says she is ending conservatorship between former NFL player Michael Oher and Memphis couple
SUMMARY: A Tennessee judge has ended a conservatorship agreement between former NFL player Michael Oher and a Memphis couple who took him in during high school. The couple, Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy, had control over Oher's finances as part of the 2004 agreement. Oher, whose story inspired the film “The Blind Side”, accused the Tuohys of misusing his finances and misleading him about the nature of their relationship. The Tuohys deny the allegations. While the conservatorship has been terminated, the dispute over financial matters will continue.

Student Athlete of the Week: Vancleave’s Jordyn Raynor
SUMMARY: Jordyn Raynor, a female kicker at Vancleave High School, is the latest in a growing trend of female players breaking into high school football. Raynor, who is also an exceptional soccer player, was encouraged to join the football team by her coach, and has since excelled in the role. She has made all eight of her extra point attempts and is a key player for the Bulldogs. Raynor, who is proud of her dual roles in sports, also plans to represent her sophomore class as a homecoming maid.
