Jackson residents encouraged to prepare for Thursday’s storms
SUMMARY: City officials are urging residents in the Metro area to be prepared for severe weather expected tomorrow, including strong winds and hail. North Jackson neighborhoods are still recovering from damage caused by storms last month, with over 100 trees knocked down in Northeast Jackson alone. A new law was introduced in April to address tree risks, requiring residents to report overhanging limbs that could pose a danger. The city council emphasizes the importance of having good insurance in case of storm damage. Residents are advised to avoid approaching downed power lines. Public Works and solid waste departments will be monitoring the situation closely.
