Prosecutors seeking to recharge actor Alec Baldwin in fatal shooting on movie set
SUMMARY: Special prosecutors are seeking to recharge actor Alec Baldwin in the 2021 fatal shooting on the set of the film “Rust” in New Mexico. The prosecutors plan to present evidence to a grand jury within the next two months, citing additional facts that have come to light. Baldwin, who was a coproducer of the film, was pointing a gun at cinematographer Halyna Hutchins during a rehearsal when it accidentally went off, killing Hutchins and wounding director Joel Souza. Baldwin's attorneys maintain that he did not pull the trigger. The recent gun analysis suggested that the trigger had to have been pulled or depressed. The trial for the weapons supervisor on the set is set to begin in February.
