PRCC’s Emma Watts Takes Miss Dixie National Title
SUMMARY: Emma Watts, a Pearl River Community College student and member of the rodeo team, was crowned Miss Dixie National, promoting agriculture and the livestock industry in Mississippi. Competing in rodeo since age nine, she was the Alabama High School Rodeo Queen and plans to earn a degree in Agriculture Communication and Business. Watts will represent the Dixie National Rodeo at various events, embodying moral values and Christian principles. The Dixie National Rodeo is one of the largest professional rodeos in the eastern US, and as Miss Dixie National, Watts will engage in promotional activities and serve as an ambassador and role model throughout her reign.

USM Army and Air Force ROTC programs host Commissioning Ceremonies
SUMMARY: Ten Army and three Air Force cadets from the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) ROTC were commissioned as Second Lieutenants. The Army ceremony at Camp Shelby featured Major General Janson D. Boyles, while the Air Force ceremony on campus featured Brigadier General Mary-Kathryn Haddad. LTC Juan J. Ortiz praised the Army cadets for their leadership, and Lt. Col. Sheena Puleali'i commended the Air Force cadets for their commitment. Distinguished Military Graduate 2LT Jeremiah J. Parker expressed pride in his training and future goals. Commissioned cadets include 2LT Miruna Avram, 2LT Braxton Bailey, 2LT Jada Fairley, among others.
