River Avenue Bridge nearing completion
SUMMARY: Months of work on the River Avenue Bridge connecting Hattisburg and Pedal in Forrest County have been delayed, leaving drivers still unable to use it. Leaders say the bridge is nearing completion but are unable to provide a projected opening date due to unforeseen delays caused by rain. Crews still need to grind down uneven spots in the concrete before painting the railing and allowing traffic. Once completed, a portion of South Main Street will close for drainage pipe installation. While they work to finish the project, drivers are reminded to be cautious and patient around the construction site.
