Other states pitching in to help Mississippi amid wildfires
SUMMARY: The Mississippi Forestry Commission (MFC) is seeking assistance from neighboring states to combat wildfires caused by ongoing drought conditions. Engine and dozer strike teams from the Florida Forest Service have already assembled in Mississippi, and more help is expected from Alabama, South Carolina, and Tennessee. The MFC is also utilizing local, state, and federal resources to fight the fires. Currently, 45 Mississippi counties are under a burn ban, and the MFC has responded to over 760 fires that have burned more than 14,163 acres since August 1.

Months after fans called for Lemonis’ job, Mississippi State baseball back in postseason

Gov. Reeves declares Emergency Medical Services Week in Mississippi
SUMMARY: Governor Tate Reeves has proclaimed May 19-25 as Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week in Mississippi. Residents are encouraged to express gratitude towards EMS workers, including technicians, paramedics, dispatchers, nurses, physicians, firefighters, and police officers. The Mississippi State Department of Health highlighted the continuous readiness of EMS teams to provide lifesaving care, which significantly improves survival and recovery rates. This year marks the 50th National EMS Week, celebrated nationwide. In Mississippi, the public is invited to honor EMS personnel at the Mississippi Trade Mart in Jackson on May 21 with a special event featuring various exhibits and demonstrations.
