Oktibbeha County enacts burn ban on Wednesday
SUMMARY: Octia County has implemented a burn ban due to the extremely dry conditions. The fire coordinator did not want to issue the ban without sufficient cause, but the expected rainfall was shorter than anticipated. The burn ban will be active until December 8th. Although there is expected to be rainfall this weekend, it is not likely to be enough to lift the ban. The main concern is that a small fire could easily turn into a larger one due to the dry ground conditions.
Almost the entire state of Mississippi is under a burn ban as of Wednesday, Nov. 8.
