Murder of USM nursing student may have occurred in Forrest County

SUMMARY: New evidence indicates that USM nursing student Lauren Johansson, found dead in Harrison County, may have been killed in Forest County. Sheriff Charlie Sims reported that warrants have been requested for her alleged murderer, Bryson Rivers, Johansson’s ex-boyfriend, who allegedly beat her to death on July 2nd. Rivers will face prosecution in Forest County, with collaboration from local law enforcement to build the case for the district attorney. Investigators are seeking security camera footage from key areas in Hattiesburg and Pedal to aid in the investigation. Rivers is anticipated to be moved to Forest County Jail later this week.
