Atmos Energy identified gas leaks in the area before the explosions, but considered them non-hazardous. The fallout from the explosions has led to concerns about gas pipeline safety in the city and statewide. Atmos Energy claims to prioritize safety and invest in enhancements, but concerns remain about the extent of the gas leak problem beyond Jackson.
