SUMMARY: A gymnasium at Moss Point High, Mississippi, was severely damaged by a EF-2 tornado just one month ago. Despite heavy damage the District School managed to repair the facility and is looking forward to welcoming students back on July 20. This is the first school year where the District will be using a new flexible schedule for education. The community has shown resilience and determination throughout the repair period, with the school's athletic coordinator praising the maintenance team's excellent work.

USM Army and Air Force ROTC programs host Commissioning Ceremonies

SUMMARY: Ten Army and three Air Force cadets from the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) ROTC were commissioned as Second Lieutenants. The Army ceremony at Camp Shelby featured Major General Janson D. Boyles, while the Air Force ceremony on campus featured Brigadier General Mary-Kathryn Haddad. LTC Juan J. Ortiz praised the Army cadets for their leadership, and Lt. Col. Sheena Puleali'i commended the Air Force cadets for their commitment. Distinguished Military Graduate 2LT Jeremiah J. Parker expressed pride in his training and future goals. Commissioned cadets include 2LT Miruna Avram, 2LT Braxton Bailey, 2LT Jada Fairley, among others.
