SUMMARY: Willie Cory Godbolt from Bogue Chitto, Mississippi, convicted of murdering eight people in 2017, brought his case before the Mississippi Supreme Court, seeking to appeal his life and death sentences. The 41-year-old’s arrest followed a Memorial Day shooting spree that targeted people across three locations, starting with the fatal shooting of a police officer and three women, one being his estranged wife’s relative. Afterward, more victims were found at two other sites. Godbolt argued for a rehearing, while his attorney contended that prior domestic violence and multi-location crimes warranted separate trials. The prosecution opposed the appeal, and a decision will be made later.
