Mississippi leaders react to Queen Elizabeth II’s death

, Miss. (WJTV) – Britain's Queen Elizabeth II died on Thursday, September 8 at the age of 96.

The royal family posted a statement on their official site saying, “The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.”

People around the world have taken to social to offer their condolences amid her , Mississippi leaders.

"Gayle and I join the people of Great Britain in mourning the loss of Queen Elizabeth II and honoring her extraordinary . She was a symbol of hope to her country and many throughout the world during her reign," said Congressman Michael Guest (MS-03).
