Hinds County secures funds for courthouse renovations

More human remains recovered from Flowood pond
SUMMARY: The Flowood Police Department is investigating after skeletal remains were found in a pond off Mangum Road. Foul play is not ruled out. The discovery was made by children fishing in the area. More bones, including a skull, were found with the help of Rankin County EOC and the Flowood Fire Department. Detective Shan Haaken mentioned that DNA was collected at the scene and the next steps include revisiting missing person reports to determine the identity of the remains. The area where the remains were found is remote and not easily accessible. The gender of the remains has not been confirmed. 12 News will provide updates on the investigation.
