Meyers family welcomes quintuplets at the University of Mississippi Medical Center
SUMMARY: Ashley and Tyler Meyers of Laurel, Mississippi, celebrated the birth of quintuplets—two boys and three girls—on July 5 at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Born at 27 weeks, the babies were delivered via caesarian section and are currently in neonatal intensive care. The delivery was managed by a team of approximately 30 specialists. Ashley, a phlebotomist, and Tyler, a mechanic, were surprised by the pregnancy after moving into a new home. Dr. Rachael Morris noted the rarity of spontaneous quintuplets, around one in 60 million, and praised the parents’ strength during the pregnancy. The couple looks forward to introducing the quintuplets to their older daughters, Paisleigh and Westlynn.

SUMMARY: A fatal shooting occurred in Gulfport on April 28, 2025, when suspects Paul Ravin Martin Jr. and Kevin Eugene James opened fire on individuals in the Holly Circle area. Three victims were injured, and 16-year-old Cobi Earnest later died from gunshot wounds. Martin, 23, was arrested and charged with First-Degree Murder, Shooting into a Dwelling, and three counts of Aggravated Assault. He was out on bond for a previous drive-by shooting.
