Mega Millions winner could net $1.25 billion as top lottery prize is still up for grabs
SUMMARY: The Mega Millions jackpot has increased to an estimated $1.25 billion after no one won the massive lottery prize on Tuesday night. This is one of the largest jackpots in U.S. history. The drought in winners is due to the poor odds of winning, with a 1 in 302.6 million chance. The new jackpot is for a sole winner who chooses to receive annual payments over 30 years, or they can opt for a lump sum of $625.3 million. Winners will also be subject to federal and state taxes. Mega Millions is played in 45 states, Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
