MDHS receives go-ahead to replace stolen SNAP benefits for fraud victims
SUMMARY: The Mississippi Department of Human Services has received approval from the federal level to replace stolen Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits for victims of fraud. SNAP benefits are often stolen through scams such as skimming and cloning, where scammers gain access to SNAP EBT numbers and PINs. Starting on August 14, MDHS will begin replacing the stolen funds. However, the replacement amount cannot exceed the amount of the stolen benefits or two months of the household's SNAP benefits, whichever is less. Eligible households will receive replacement benefits within 10 days of their claim being approved. To learn more about preventing SNAP theft, visit MDHS.ms.gov.
