Man killed, teens arrested in connection to Sunday night shooting in Taylorsville

SUMMARY: The Jones County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an overnight shooting in the Hein Community that left 44-year-old Timmy Carter dead. Three people have been arrested: 18-year-old Kent Travius Hayes is charged with murder, while 18-year-old Lucas Jones and 20-year-old Di Tasa Smith are charged with accessory after the fact. Deputies were called to Junior’s Pool Hall on Carter D’s Road around 10 p.m. where Carter was found bleeding from the head and pronounced dead at the scene. A red pickup truck and a crowd were present at the location. The investigation is ongoing, with updates expected.
