The project may also include the development of a recreation park around a new water retention area. The timeframe for completion is a concern for residents, but engineers assure that they are working aggressively to expedite the process. Environmental surveys are underway, and there may be a need to buy out some homes to complete the project. The County Supervisor mentioned previous instances of home buyouts in Canton due to flooding concerns. The project has received 23.5 million dollars in federal funding.
