Lowndes County store owner faces charges for alleged sale of ZAZA
SUMMARY: Mitul Patel, a 40-year-old store owner in Lowndes County, Mississippi, has been charged with the sale and possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute. Patel was accused of selling ZAZA, or Tianeptine, from his store, Country Mart, on Highway 182. After an undercover buy of ZAZA, law enforcement agents seized several bottles of the substance and $2,000 in cash. Patel remains in jail. The Country Mart was also burglarized twice in the past year, with the only items taken being ZAZA pills. The price of ZAZA had doubled after the state outlawed Tianeptine in July.
