Louisiana health department outlines new physician reimbursement rates | Louisiana
SUMMARY: The Louisiana Senate Committee on Health and Welfare will review a plan by the Department of Health to improve Medicaid reimbursement rates. Key changes include aligning Medicaid rates with Medicare, with an increase to 85% in the first year and full parity by the second year. This aims to address healthcare access challenges faced by Medicaid recipients. The plan, costing $258 million in the first year, will not rely on state general funds. Medical professionals support the proposal, noting it could enhance pediatric care access and improve health outcomes. Pilot projects will test methods to reduce emergency department visits through better care coordination.
