Young Quarterback room vying for New Orleans Saints starting position
SUMMARY: Following Derek Carr’s retirement, the New Orleans Saints have four young quarterbacks competing for the starting role: Spencer Rattler, Tyler Shough, Jake Haener, and Hunter Dekkers. After minicamps, Rattler and Shough emerged as frontrunners, both experienced in college’s RPO game. Head Coach Kellen Moore praised their execution and adaptability to NFL rules. Offensive leaders Alvin Kamara and Chris Olave expressed confidence in the quarterbacks’ readiness and football IQ. Rattler, feeling poised to start, emphasized his experience and preparation. Congress approves Trump’s $9 billion cut to public broadcasting and foreign aid
SUMMARY: The House approved President Trump’s request to rescind about $9 billion in public broadcasting and foreign aid funds, marking the first successful presidential rescissions request in decades. The measure passed narrowly (216-213) amid GOP efforts to cut what they see as excessive spending, despite some Republicans’ discomfort. The cuts include $1.1 billion from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and nearly $8 billion from foreign aid programs supporting disaster relief and democracy-building abroad. Democrats criticized the move for undermining bipartisan investment and harming America’s global standing. Senate GOP removed a contentious $400 million HIV/AIDS cut after objections. Officials hinted further rescissions packages are forthcoming.

South Mississippi vascular surgeon discusses chronic venous insufficiency following Trump’s diagnosis
SUMMARY: President Donald Trump was recently diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency (CVI), a common condition where malfunctioning vein valves allow blood to flow backward, causing vein enlargement and leg swelling. Dr. Keith Thompson, a vascular surgeon in D’Iberville, Mississippi, says CVI affects up to 50% of people over age 50. While typically mild, untreated cases can cause burning, cramps, or discomfort. Treatments are simple, including weight loss, compression stockings, and minor procedures. For most, including the president, it’s manageable. Dr. Thompson emphasizes early treatment and lifestyle changes to prevent symptoms from worsening and improve daily quality of life.
