Lawrence County sheriff on Dau Mabil investigation

SUMMARY: The body of Belhaven man Dau Mabil was found in the Pearl River in Lawrence County, Mississippi, after being missing since March 25, 2024. Lawrence County Sheriff Ryan Everett mentioned that there is uncertainty around the circumstances of his death, as the initial autopsy showed no foul play. Dau’s family wants answers, and his brother, Bul, has filed a temporary restraining order to conduct an independent autopsy. Allegations of a video showing people moving a body into a truck near where Dau was last seen have raised questions. U.S. Representative Bennie Thompson requested an investigation into Dau’s disappearance by the Department of Justice.
