Laurel police in middle of annual food drive
SUMMARY: A new facility is expected to employ around 200 people in its first phase and a local police department is teaming up with a soup kitchen to help those who may go hungry this holiday season. Food insecurities are a problem not only in Laurel but also across the state, and the Laurel Police Department is taking action. They are asking for canned goods and nonperishable items to help feed the community. For the past nine years, the department has hosted a food drive at Walmart in memory of Chief Tyrone Stewart. Captain Shannon is involved in organizing this drive.
