JXN Water supports bill that would establish water utility authority for city of Jackson
SUMMARY: Senator David Parker met with Third Party Administrator Ted Hannifin to make changes to Senate Bill 2628 after a committee meeting. The biggest change is that the bill now allows for the purchase of water and sewer assets from the city at a fair market value. This addresses concerns from last year about the assets being taken without fair compensation. Parker has received positive feedback on the bill and Hennepin has expressed support for it. The Mayor's office declined to comment on the bill. Parker introduced the bill on Wednesday and looks forward to discussing it further as it progresses.
