Joran van der Sloot pleads guilty to falsely claiming where Natalee Holloway’s body was to extort money from family
SUMMARY: Joran van der Sloot, the main suspect in the death and disappearance of Natalee Holloway, has pleaded guilty to wire fraud and extortion. He has been sentenced to 20 years in prison on each charge, with the sentences running concurrently. Van der Sloot has confessed to murdering Holloway in Aruba in 2005 and pledged to help law enforcement in locating her body. He also took a polygraph test. Van der Sloot will receive credit for time served in Peru, where he is serving drug trafficking and murder charges for the death of Stephany Flores in 2010.
