Jackson couple frustrated with sewage issues affecting home
SUMMARY: Homeowners on Smith Robinson Street in Jackson, Mississippi expressed their concerns at City Hall regarding sewage issues. The couple, Jimmy and Pamela Kelly, had to remodel their home due to sewage problems and attended the City Council meeting seeking answers. The city provided them with $16,000 to repair the damage, but later sent a letter stating that they were not responsible for the repairs. The Kellys stated that their 13-year-old son fell ill with meningitis due to the sewage issue, causing them great distress. Mayor Chokwe A. Lumumba addressed the issue, mentioning that JXN Water is responsible for water and sewage problems in the city. The Kellys plan to move out of Jackson if the situation is not resolved.
