Jackson councilmen want gas station closed
SUMMARY: Jackson City Council members are advocating for the closure of a Texaco gas station on Medgar Evers Boulevard following a recent shooting incident that left a man dead. Councilman Brian Grizzell, representing Ward 4, cited residents’ concerns about safety, while Councilman Kenneth Stokes from Ward 3 supports the closure. Grizzell plans to initiate a public nuisance declaration process, gathering evidence of code violations and violent crimes associated with the gas station. Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade will engage with the owner, aiming for a comprehensive, sustainable solution to improve safety in the area.
