Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame inducts class of 2025

Ole Miss kicker Lucas Carneiro named to Lou Groza Award watch list
SUMMARY: Ole Miss specialist Lucas Carneiro was named to the 2025 Lou Groza Award preseason watch list, recognizing the nation’s top college placekicker. A transfer from Western Kentucky, Carneiro impressed in his sophomore season after moving from Bowling Green to Ole Miss, earning Conference USA Special Teams Player of the Year honors. ‘Operation Guardian Force’ yields 72 arrests, 29 human trafficking victims rescued
SUMMARY: A statewide law enforcement effort in Mississippi, called “Operation Guardian Force,” led to 72 arrests related to human and drug trafficking and offenses against children, along with the rescue of 29 trafficking victims. The two-week operation involved 400 officers from federal, state, and local agencies, including the Attorney General’s Human Trafficking Task Force and other specialized units. Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch emphasized the commitment to removing traffickers and aiding victims. Partnering agencies included the FBI, DEA, and numerous local police and sheriff’s departments. Victim services were provided by organizations such as the Gulf Coast Center for Nonviolence.
